i have yet to be disappointed with a "criterion collection" movie and i just watched babette's feast today. it kind of reminded me of the chocolat plot (i.e. french woman appears in a dreary town and changes the tone with her food). really enjoyed it and the underlying message. p.s. on a side note, Veuve Cliquot champagne is mentioned in one of the scenes & i am reading a really good bio about the woman who headed the champagne house after the french revolution. fascinating life. and taylor hackford may be making a movie about her...see here
